About the 14th Thredbo Blues Festival
Friday evening 11 January to Sunday 13 January 2008 - at least!
The Thredbo Blues Festival is about experiencing high quality LIVE blues music by renowned Australian acts, with some overseas special guests performed in intimate surrounds. Performances can be seen in a range of venues, with the poolside gigs being a festival favourite along with the restaurant gigs as they are a great way to enjoy fine food and wine in the company of accomplished musicians.
The 2008 festival was its 14th year and lived up to its reputation as a favourite with festival-goers who increased in numbers this year. The unique mountain location, friendly atmosphere and high quality, up close and personal performances in diverse public and intimate dine-in venues remain the big drawcard.
The festival is highly regarded by blues performers around Australia and the program is always strong, as it brings together a balanced range of blues styles and an eclectic mix of artists who always manage to bring together an explosive late night jam on the Sunday night that is now an institution at the festival.
The Thredbo Blues Festival is held annually during January in Thredbo Alpine Village. Tourism Thredbo and the community host the festival to assist with economic sustainability and the mountain environment really compliments the live music experience.
A weekend festival pass gains access to all festival venues throughout Thredbo and includes unlimited scenic chairlift rides on the Kosciusko Express Chairlift. The chairlift rises 600 vertical metres from the picturesque valley floor to the top of the Rams head Range which is the closest access point for a leisurely walk to the top of Australia - Mt Kosciuszko.
Festival packages including accommodation and weekend festival pass for 2008 were available from $240pp. Go to Passes and Inclusions for all information.
